Boilerplate
Barkopolis is a kid-friendly 4X strategy game in which six dog empires compete for a single backyard. Players explore a fog-covered hex map, found cities, research a five-era tree of dog technologies, trade Treats and resources, sway rivals at the Grand Dog Council, and pursue five distinct victories — cultural, scientific, domination, diplomatic, and the turn-300 Best in Show. Its one unbreakable rule: nobody dies. Defeated pups Tail-Tuck and run home, spies get marched home with their ears down, and cities won by culture simply "vote with their paws." Barkopolis is free, browser-based, offline-capable, and contains no ads, purchases, accounts, or trackers.

Five facts writers seem to like
- The title screen's sky is live: the sun arcs with your real local time, and at night a cratered moon rides the same road.
- The engine is fully deterministic — same seed, same moves, same game — which is also how save files stay tiny.
- Every rival leader is scripted, not generated: the same hand-written personality every game, from Don Paco's culture obsession to General Rex's border grudges.
- The in-game Barkopedia has 140+ hand-written entries, and it's published on the open web.
- The royal Labradors, Queen Georgia and Empress Virginia, are modeled on the developer's family dogs. Georgia loves to play ball. This is canon.
